As crisp packets are found in the countryside looking nearly new after 33 years... How long does litter take to rot?

In my opinion, we need to recycle more than ever, because now a days we are using a lot of plastic elements that could last a lot of years to fully desintegrate. If we don't do anything we will have a problem, because we will haven't got enough space to throw the litter.
A lot of anti-litter campaigners recently found 33 year old discarded crisp packets. All the plastic bags and bottles could last hundreds, thousands or millions of years without decomposing, according to scientists.

During a clean-up along the A48 in the Forest of Dean, campaigners found these crisp packets (pictured) that were 33 years old, which meant they had been thrown out of car windows some 1,716 weeks agoIt's not just man-made items, even banana skins can hang around for more than a month, while orange peel can take up to two years to fully desintegrate.

With the fruit juice cartoons, the descomposition time will vary depending on the thickness of the carton, but is around two or three months.

Many plastic bottles are made from polyethylene terephalate, which is almost impossible to break down within any reasonable length of time.
